Tarteso Nuevas Fronteras. Sebastián Celestino Pérez y Esther Rodríguez González. (Eds.)
This volume brings together the contributions presented at the II International Conference on Tartessus, New Frontiers, which took place in Mérida between 17 and 19 November 2021. Its reading allows a journey from the eastern end of the Mediterranean to the southwest of the Iberian Peninsula, showing the different historical realities that took place in this territory during the 1st Iron Age. The aim of this publication is to show the situation in the Mediterranean during the years of the emergence and development of the Tartessian culture in order to better understand the formation and evolution of this culture.
Knowledge of Tartessus has evolved considerably in the last decade, since the holding and publication of the proceedings of the 1st International Conference, Tartessus. El emporio del metal (Almuzara, 2013). The incorporation of new voices and visions focused on the knowledge of the peninsular protohistory, as well as some topics never before addressed in the knowledge of Tartessus, allow us to present in this volume a renewed vision, where the incorporation of new territorial limits for this culture stands out.
